Tendrilling up the Trellis

We're in the full swing of things now with an exciting week ahead: our CSA starts as well as the start of the Dover market! Harvests are beginning to burst from the field and we think this week's mini-heat-wave will only further push things along. Our peas are climbing and tendrilling up their trellis - and I expect to see the first flowers emerging very soon.

Our high tunnels have begun their transition from spring crops to summer crops (hello cucumbers and tomatoes). And speaking of tomatoes, our field tomatoes are in! 600 plants were pressed home on Friday. Our mix of paste, heirlooms, and cherries are in long, tidy rows situated north-south in what I think is some of the best soil on the farm. We will cultivate them with much joy and anticipate their gifts that will come later this summer. Happy June to you all, and thanks for following along!

Won’t you join us in the garden this week? We are hoping to get our leeks transplanted!

Around the Farm

This is what happens when the crew leaves me unsupervised. Don't worry though, these 300-or-so gold beets still found their place in the garden. I just prefer to do things the slowest, most inefficient and inconvenient way possible.

This is what a farm van is supposed to look like. Big Red doin' the job right.

Field tomatoes are in!
