I was on the tractor mowing down spent crops and making room for late summer plantings, and Bria took it upon herself to finish organizing and processing the garlic crop - a HUGE task! On Saturday, we planted another 250 cherries and heirlooms that we hope will come to harvest in September and as deep into October as the weather will allow. This photo is a glimpse into our tomato planting system. We mark the beds, then hand-trowel the holes where we'll put the plants, scoop a handful of organic fertilizer into each hole, then hand-water to make a sort-of cereal bowl of goodness. Finally, we'll plant the tomatoes into these saturated, fertile mud-holes.
